Default apache 2.2.3 install

I downloaded apache_2.2.3-win32-x86-no_ssl.msi, and it claimed to have
installed itself.
There is an icon on my task bar ("running none of 1 apache services"), but
when I select "Start" from it, it "fails to start selected services".
What do I have to do to get this going?

What OS? What do the apache error logs say? What do the Windows error
logs say?
