Apache2 is installed but I can't get it ocnfigured

All, I go tapache installed fine. (WIN XP PRO. SP2) However I can't get it
to bring up the web site. If I browse to my IP address it brings up all of
the files in the Program Files/Apache Group/Apache2/htdocs folder once there
I can browse the folder for index.htm and it will display on my browser
fine. The odd part is that noone outside of my home network can browse to
it. I have no aftermarket firewalls on my PC just SP2 firewall and it has
never been enabled as I have a router. I have port 80 forwarded to my
machine. I can see connections coming into port 80 but they seem to die. Any
help on this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

P.S. do I need another program pointed to apache to get it to work. for EX:
dreamweaver, frontpage, other, etc...
