No response from Apache

I've just installed the newest version of Apache, followed exactly from
a tutorial on some website (didn't really need it, it was fairly
simple). So anyway I have Apache running as a service, but whenever I
try going to http://localhost/ or http://127.0.0.1, I get the
"Connection was refused when trying to connect to localhost" from
Firefox, and 'Webpage not found' from IE. I've allowed Apache through
the windows firewall, and all other settings have been left as they are
by default. Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong?
