Default getting [crit] (-2146173818) in log when starting Apache 2.0.54

Using XAMPP 1.4.15 and Windows XP SP2.

Hello all,

I hope someone can give me some insight into my problem, as I can't find
anything using google/google groups/apache help.

I've been setting up a secure user account in Windows, so that I can run
all my web stuff through that account with a reduced risk any damage can
be done to the rest of my server system if anyone does get in.

I've restricted access to the c:\ drive, denied any access to other
drives, but allowed FULL access to d:\apachefriends\ (where XAMMP is
installed for me).

I've set Apache up as a service to log-in through the user account
"webmin"... This doesn't work.
I run a command shell, and try to launch my web tools. mySQL, my mail
and my FTP daemon launch fine, but Apache doesn't - instead it puts that
error in the log file saying that it's an "unknown error", and (if it
helps) the problem is in the 'digest'.. Can anyone explain what this is?

Direct snippet from error.log:

[Sat Sep 17 05:40:46 2005] [notice] Digest: generating secret for digest
authentication ...
[Sat Sep 17 05:40:46 2005] [crit] (-2146173818)Unknown error: Digest:
error generating secret: Unknown error

Any idea's?
Is Apache2 forced to be a system service?

I appreciate any help anyone can give.
