Hello,
I've been trying to deploy/install Apache 2.0.52 with SSL support on Windows. I've checked out a couple of sites which worked just fine for me. Anyway, I have a few general questions and I'm hoping one of you guys can provide me an answer: * I deployed Apache+SSL by building the httpd and openssl source code myself on VC++. Why doesn't Apache bundle SSL already as a separate installation? I heard it may be due to some exporting restrictions from the United States. Is this true? And if so, can someone elaborate? * If Apache doesn't distribute pre-bundled installer with SSL, and I would have to build one myself, does that mean, in case I ship my application with Apache+SSL, that I would be committing a crime? What would be the workaround, if any? * I stumbled on www.apache-ssl.org, but it looks like this is based on Apache 1.3.33 and not the latest 2.0.52. Is this the main difference? Why isn't apache-ssl.org support 2.0.52 (I'll also email them personally to get a more direct answer). More questions to follow I'm anticipating, but I don't want to overwhelm the readers...this should suffice for now. Thanks. Avalon |
