Hello
I have a problem, that every time Win 2000 Professional starts I get a "services.exe terminated unrepentantly, error status code 128". This version of Win was with Service Pack 2. I checked with Microsoft's knowledge base, it recommended I download the SP 3 or SP 4 as this was a recognised problem, the computer is trying to access invalid memory. This I done, first I installed SP3, same problem then I downloaded and installed SP4, the same problem exists. I can only work this computer in 'Safe Mode'. Now I'm grasping at straws, obviously I want to avoid a full re-format. Thanks in advance Tom Brett |

This groups is about windows web servers. You might have better luck asking in a general Windows groups, perhaps one of the Microsoft- sponsored ones. A quick web seach reveals the possibility of some viruses causing simialr symptoms. Have you scanned for viruses? |

Tanx for your response
I have it scanned with Norton and AVG all with latest reference files, also scanned with Ad-Aware, not once but about 15 times. I done all the elementary things. Sorry for mailing the wrong group, this particular puter was on a server, and was an acting server. Renewed Thanks Tom "Nil" <rednoise@REMOVETHIScomcast.net> wrote in message news:Xns958091E805F79nilch1@63.240.76.16... > On 12 Oct 2004, "Tom" <tompbrett@eircom.net> wrote in > news:IWUad.33272$Z14.13039@news.indigo.ie: > > > I have a problem, that every time Win 2000 Professional starts I > > get a "services.exe terminated unrepentantly, error status code > > 128".
