Is Apache is an "offline" sort of server, or is it a program meant to
be installed onto a server? It is asking me for such information as "Network Domain, Server Name, Admin.'s email." Everything is based on the .com concept, rather than asking me for my PC's information. I don't understand why I am being asked these things. What if I don't have a server yet (or if I do, what difference should that make)? Do I have to fill this information out for Apache to work properly? Is Apache trying to install itself on my host's server or something? Will I have to be signed onto the Internet in order to use Apache? I'm thoroughly confused. If anyone can enlighten me, I would be very grateful. Thank you. |

Any machine that runs server software is, technically, a server. > It is asking me for such information as > "Network Domain, Server Name, Admin.'s email." You can enter anything, and then edit httpd.conf normally. > Everything is based on > the .com concept, rather than asking me for my PC's information. Where would you run Apache, if not on a server? > Will I have to be signed onto the Internet in order to use Apache? No. You can just as well run it on an intranet, or even on a stand-alone server.
