Newbie - Introduction

Hi all,

This looks like a pretty good newsgroup. I've only just looked
at a couple of threads, and I've already cut about a week of my
learning curve. I only just installed Apache yesterday.

I see a few people having problems with Perl CGI. I couldn't
get it working no matter what. It finally dawned on me, that
because I had been using a Java server, I'd set the .pl
extension to open with Notepad (the server had its own
associations and I use Windows Explorer as my IDE; what can I
say, I'm an old batch file and command line kind of guy).
Anyway, check those file associations. I fixed my problem by
removing the association in My Computer->view->Options... File
Types tab.
