Default Newest Install of Apache doesn't run-- Port 80 blocked

I have the same problem as below, and did shutdown zonealarm, along
with the antivirus per Willam Rowe.
My question is, if you think zone alarm is such crap (and it might as
well be for all I know-- I don't know for sure), what do you use then
if you want to keep the myriad of DOS attacks, continual attacks of
NetSky@a-q, that come in the form of Re: Approved, using an
"unprotected" computer to launch attacks

If you're trying to run Apache, and have it work along with *a
firewall* and *an antivirus "package"*, what it is that you suggest
that be used? and can some of these be set up to "listen" on another
port other than 80?

Uninstall your damn firewall software. And the antivirus crap too.

One of them is playing on the socket stack, and causing you these
problems. It wouldn't happen to be ZoneAlarm? Guessed so. They
really write some crappy drivers.

Please don't top-post. It's about as easy to read as English written
sdrawkcab (backwards).

Zone Alarm is generally considered to be crap. I haven't used it myself, but
just look at the GUI - the first time I saw it I thought is was some kind of
parody or joke. The user interface to a software firewall should make it
easy for users to obtain accurate information and configure the application
correctly. Zone Alarm, OTOH, looks more like an arcade game. On Windows XP,
I use just the built-in software firewall.

Virus scanners usually don't interfere with server applications. Obscure
"security suite" packages are an entirely different thing. I have run Apache
together with McAfee antivirus software, but I'm sure most other virus
scanners will work as well.
