Apache 1.3.31 & 2.0.49 on win95b

I have tried to get apache 1.3.31 to start.
the error message 1.3.31 reports is:

C:\Program Files\Apache Group\Apache>apache
[Wed Jun 16 22:15:02 2004] [warn] pid file c:/program files/apache
group/apache/
logs/httpd.pid overwritten -- Unclean shutdown of previous Apache run?
[Wed Jun 16 22:15:02 2004] [warn] exec() may not be safe
Apache/1.3.31 (Win32) running...

C:\Program Files\Apache Group\Apache>

the log says:

[Tue Jun 15 15:03:49 2004] [crit] make_sock: failed to get a socket
for address
xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx port 80

and it doesn't start. Version 2.0.49 did this, complaining abou the
listen command which I didn't change:

C:\Program Files\Apache Group\Apache2>bin\apache
[Wed Jun 16 22:20:23 2004] [crit] (OS 10044)Socket type not supported:
alloc_lis
tener: failed to get a socket for 0.0.0.0
Syntax error on line 120 of C:/Program Files/Apache

Listen setup failed

C:\Program Files\Apache Group\Apache2>

anyone been able to get these running on win95? I may have to go back
to 1.3.22 to get things working maybe (ugh).
I am also trying to get PHP to work.

Well i have got php5 and apache 2 to work together, but admittedly i am
running win2kpro...
win95?? uhh can i make a strong suggestion that you upgrade? win95 no longer
has windows update support which means they no longer supply service packs
and other critical updates. if you can get the apache server to work nicely
give us a shout and ill tell you how to get php to work as well

I have not tried to run Apache on Win95 in a long time. But I do have a thought:
have you installed the Winsock 2 update for Win95? Since all Windows versions
from Win98 and NT 4.0 came with Winsock 2 support, it is possible that the newer
versions of Apache might require it.
