Installing Apache2 on xp pro

I tried installing apache2 on a xp machine. although it would install and
run, I could not browse localhost, after suggestions from this group and
after reading many hints & tips, I installed apache 1.3 and it worked.

I then removed all my mcafee progs virus scanner & firewall and reinstalled
apache2. That then worked properly

I have now reinstalled mcafee and all is fine

No doubt there is a logical explanation.
But if anyone else has the same problem, Virus scanners & firewalls may be
the clue
