Apache 2.0.48 DNS/Parent Child issues

I have installed Apache 2.0.48. It is running fine. When I try to
access the server from my browser using localhost or 127.0.0.1, I get
a DNS error/server could not be found. The error log shows:

Parent: Created child process
Child xxxx: Child process is running
Aquired the start mutex
Starting worker threads
Waiting for worker threads to exit

I have checked the WinXP firewall settings as well as McAffe's. I have
also verified that the port is not being used by any other server.

What should I try next?
