There are dozens of ways you could do this. If you provide details on how,
exactly, you want the process to go - someone can give you a better answer. --Tina -- http://www.AffordableHOST.com LiveChat: http://chat.affordablehost.com 20% Discount Code: newsgroup Serving the web since 1997 "abracad" <abracad_1999@yahoo.com> wrote in message news:e14ddf84.0308292332.5f40b31d@posting.google.c om... > Hi > > How would one go about setting up a web repository of pay-to-download > documents, preferably using some 3rd-party credit card company to > validate user's payment details, eg Pay Pal? > > Any Web links/book references? > > Many thanks in advance |

The process goes something like this:-
A casual visitor enters the site and reads brief descriptions (abstracts) of document. The visitor decides he would like to read - and is willing to pay a small fee for - a particular document. He hits a button and is requested for his credit card details. He enters his card no. expiry date & whatever else and is then given a link to download the required document. The small fee (less approproate commission) is then paid to my bank account. As I am no security/finance expert I would prefer (for a fee) to hand payment processing to a 3rd party. My role would be to provide the content & set up the front end. cheers "Tina - AffordableHOST.com" <tina@affordablehost.com> wrote in message news:<vl1e8fia0tsd96@corp.supernews.com>... > There are dozens of ways you could do this. But I'll bet they're cheaper than anything that doesn't involve having your own merchant account. > > Original poster... > What sort of dollar amounts are you talking about... roughly ?? > That is an important question. Initially I'd like to start with a payment service that takes a percentage of revenues rather than charging a flat fee as I don't want to pay out more than I receive. cheers |
