Ever since I upgraded from Apache 1.3.26 to 1.3.27 (uninstalled the
old one and downloaded the MSI file for the new one), Windows Explorer has been having issues. I read a post in the NG from 1999 where someone was having the exact same problem, but there were few responses. I'm hoping that someone else has come across this by now! Whether I have Apache running or not, ever since I installed it Windows Explorer freezes up on me for no apparent reason. In any folder, when I try to create a new folder, copy-and-paste, or whatever, it stops responding completely. Sometimes it will respond after about 45 seconds, but sometimes it just doesn't come back at all. When I Ctrl-Alt-Del, I don't have anything major running in the background; my digital camera card reader, Explorer, and a file that my modem is requiring. All of this was the same as when I had 1.3.26. I had read that changing the HostNameLookup in httpd.conf would cause a similar problem, but I never changed that since the server is just here for occassional testing. Has anyone else seen this problem? If so, any ideas on how to fix it? Rebooting has no effect, and my CPU resources (according to Win98>Performance) is at about 85%. TIA, Mike PS, this is on a P4 2.8GHz CPU, 512MB RAM, 40G Western Digital HDD, Soyo Dragon Lite mobo and ATI Radeon 9700 Pro video card. |
