Default Priming Squid Cache

I'm working on a project to replace caching appliances with Linux
servers running Squid (with WCCP). One feature that the caching
appliances have is the ability to "prime" them by downloading files
directly. (Even when an HTTP link did not yet exist.)

Is there a way to do that with Squid? Can I put files directly into
the cache?

Thanks,
Sean
