Except that the size differs significantly so the response is different.

Try if you can see any difference with the following set in squid.conf:

strip_query_terms off
log_mime_hdrs on

If you still does not see any difference then the application is broken.

Setting "server_persistent_connections off" may help, and if this makes a
difference in either way then it is proven the application is broken.
