Well it seems to me that if you wish snort to log to a mysql DB then you =
need to use the --with-mysql flag. Perhaps you need to point the above =
flag to the proper location if your sql client is not installed in =
/usr/local/mysql.=20
Perhaps you need to install the entire database engine even though its =
only purpose may be to get snort compiled correctly.=20

It appears to be looking for mysql to be installed in /usr/local/mysql =
which is a default install location for mysql.
Check out the installation documents offered on the snort web page the =
docs step you through the entire installation.
If you are using a different server for the DB you just need to adjust =
the output line in the snort.conf file to point to that server instead =
of localhost.
