And why not? Are people in this group that narrowly focused on their vis=
ion that knowing what going rates are for a type of service is considered= taboo or blasphemy? I presume that whatever yo do in life you do it for= free? I for one am doing a survey on open source tools and how they mig= ht be enhanced through studies on human computer interaction -- a field i= n which the open source community has been lacking. I am a great propone= nt of open source and recommend its use throughout my travels. I am, how= ever also, a realist and recognize some of its drawbacks. Getting a grip= on how much money (is that word so dirty to you?) a consultant in the op= en source field of intrusion detection earns (is that another dirty word = for you?) can bring into focus some areas in which certain studies of hum= an computer interaction might benefit. Or perhaps you're happy to have open source remain the soy bacon of the d= igital landscape forever? So, what kind of questions, then, are "wanted" in this forum? Or would y= ou prefer it to be a "closed society" of techno-nerds without any underst= anding of how their work relates to commerce? Or is "commerce" a dirty w= ord for you, too? 'nuff said. > -----Original Message----- > From: Jeruvy [mailto:jeruvy@shaw.ca] > Sent: Friday, July 2, 2004 03:35 PM > To: jeffs@speakeasy.net > Subject: RE: [Snort-users] fees and such for IDS consultants > Importance: High > > This is the EXACT type of question that isn't wanted here. > > Go talk to Gartner... > > J. > j e r u v y a t s h a w d o t c a > > > > -----Original Message----- > > From: jeffs@speakeasy.net [mailto:jeffs@speakeasy.net] > > Sent: Thursday, July 01, 2004 10:31 AM > > To: snort-users@lists.sourceforge.net > > Subject: [Snort-users] fees and such for IDS consultants > > > > > > As this group appears to be populated by professionals in the > > security intrusion business, I'd like to ask what are the > > going rates for this type of consultancy.
