Make sure you have the location of the libraries in the ld.so.conf, then ru=
n ldconfig

Make sure that is the right location for the mysql files (for the snort ./c=
onfigure)

How did you install mysql? Did use RPM, Source, or was it with the OS?

If you downloaded it was it the full source? And if RPM's what RPM's did yo=
u install?

Depending on these answers I have seen it say Yes during the configure, and=
then have this error.

I can't seem to get snort to start. It appears to start, but immediately d=
ies. I have entered " snort -c /etc/snort/snort.conf " and I get to follow=

Database "mysql" Support is not compiled into this build of snort

I compiled it from source and I used the -with-mysql=3D/usr/local/mysql fla=
g. I also see the message "checking for mysql ...yes" output from .configu=
re.

Does anyone have a clue what could be the problem? Or if not, are there an=
y other debug tools I could use to track this? Would be nice if snort had =
a -debug flag so you could see where it fails during startup.
