The following is one problem that we won't (or shouldn't!) have to deal
with :-) Title: Cisco Field Notice: Intrusion Detection System 4235 and 4250 Sensor Inductor Failure URL: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/customer/...802109dc.shtml Posted: April 05, 2004 Summary:An inductor on the motherboard of affected* 4235 and 4250 models of the Cisco Intrusion Detection System (IDS) fails, rendering the unit non functional. The affected units contain a defective inductor that may exhibit an electrical short on the motherboard after several months of use or longer. In some cases, the failure of the inductor is preceded by an audible "pop" and the visible release of smoke, prior to the system automatically shutting off. The failures that have been reported to Cisco are confined to the motherboard within the server enclosure. In some rare situations, smoke may be exhausted from the chassis when the inductor is burned. The final outcome of these events complies with the requirements in the Safety Standards UL60950/CSA C22.2 No. 60950/IEC60950/EN60950. ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.Net email is sponsored by: IBM Linux Tutorials Free Linux tutorial presented by Daniel Robbins, President and CEO of GenToo technologies.
