I always thought RedHat consumed most of your memory,
no matter how much you have or how much is being used by programs, for the purpose of caching. I mean, why let memory sit there while it could be used to cache/buffer everything? Not necessarily a bad thing... I recently went to FreeBSD for performance issues with RH and Snort. FreeBSD doesn't use the slower libcap, for one thing. Neways, I don't think you have a memory leak, but you should check using the 'top' command to be sure it is not a program that has the leak.
