I am upgrading a production Solaris 9 snort 2.0.1 server. The build went
fine. These are the commands I have used from the beginning. /opt/snort/bin/snort -c /opt/snort/etc/lan.conf -i elxl0 -l /var/log/snort-lan -D /opt/snort/bin/snort -c /opt/snort/etc/fwo.conf -i elxl1 -l /var/log/snort-fwo -D /opt/snort/bin/snort -c /opt/snort/etc/dmz.conf -i elxl2 -l /var/log/snort-dmz -D My /var/adm/message file has these entries and no errors. Jan 13 19:21:36 snort snort[2020]: [ID 702911 daemon.notice] Initializing daemon mode Jan 13 19:21:36 snort snort[2021]: [ID 702911 daemon.notice] PID path stat checked out ok, PID path set to /var/run/ Jan 13 19:21:36 snort snort[2021]: [ID 702911 daemon.notice] Writing PID "2021" to file "/var/run//snort_elxl0.pid" Jan 13 19:21:41 snort snort[2022]: [ID 702911 daemon.notice] Initializing daemon mode Jan 13 19:21:41 snort snort[2023]: [ID 702911 daemon.notice] PID path stat checked out ok, PID path set to /var/run/ Jan 13 19:21:41 snort snort[2023]: [ID 702911 daemon.notice] Writing PID "2023" to file "/var/run//snort_elxl1.pid" Jan 13 19:21:46 snort snort[2024]: [ID 702911 daemon.notice] Initializing daemon mode Jan 13 19:21:46 snort snort[2025]: [ID 702911 daemon.notice] PID path stat checked out ok, PID path set to /var/run/ Jan 13 19:21:46 snort snort[2025]: [ID 702911 daemon.notice] Writing PID "2025" to file "/var/run//snort_elxl2.pid" # more /var/run/snort_elxl2.pid 2025 # more /var/run/snort_elxl1.pid 2023 # more /var/run/snort_elxl0.pid 2021 Snort does not run but I don't see an error to resolve this. Does anyone have a suggestion? Best regards, Michael D. Peters ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by: Perforce Software.
