snort 2.1.0 - problem to full installation

hi ng,

update to snort 2.1.0,
- system ist red hat 8 - two ethernet-cards with dsl-modem
eth0 is local net
eth1 is to dsl-modem

following done:
- remove old version 1.8.7
- i download the rpm found on the net for red hat 8
- install of rpm with without problems
- snort 2.1.0-0.rh80.dag
- snort-bloat 2.1.0-0.rh80.dag
- snort-mysql 2.1.0-0.rh80.dag

- install newest rules without problems

- can start snort and running with eth1 (card to internet)
after start snort ist running:
"Snort initialization completed successfully"

first i will know: i use in past snort with logging under
"/var/run/snort...".

can i use this again? - what must i change in snort.conf?

second point: i never install snort with sql and i will no recompile
it. how can i build the snort database?

mysql ist installed and running
user and group snort is done.

is there an howto special for install with rpm on the net?
