[Snort-users] Build problem (Snort 2.1.0, pcre 4.3)

Everything seems to go fine until:

/usr/local/mysql/lib/libmysqlclient.a(my_compress.o)(.text+0x12a): In
function `my_uncompress':
: undefined reference to `uncompress'
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
make[3]: *** [snort] Error 1
make[3]: Leaving directory `/usr/local/src/snort-2.1.0/src'
make[2]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1
make[2]: Leaving directory `/usr/local/src/snort-2.1.0/src'
make[1]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/local/src/snort-2.1.0'
make: *** [all] Error 2
[root@aardvark snort-2.1.0]#

Can't work around this, and my previous Snort 2.0.x build started
segfaulting after a kernel update (latest RH9 2.4-29) so I'm stuck
snortless for the time being.

The old one goes fine through initialization:

> Dec 27 15:54:38 localhost snort: Ports to decode telnet on: 21 23 25 119
> Dec 27 15:54:38 localhost snort: Snort initialization completed successfully

but it segfaults within a few seconds.
