Hey everyone,
I am running WinXP Pro and I am unable to make Snort display the packets going to and fro from my box. Its not like there isn't any data moving. Its just that Snort doesn't know. I use a dial-up connection. I use Google with the switches -v -b -e -d and it starts normally. I am using SNort v2.0.0 and WinPCap3.01A When it starts it says this --==Initializing Snort ==-- Initializing Output Plugins! decoding Ethernet on interface \Device\NPF_{...} --==Initialization Complete ==-- -*> Snort! <*- {Some messages - author, etc.} Then it shows absolutely no output. Then when I end it with Ctrl-C, it says pcap_loop: read error: PacketReceivePacket failed pcap_stats: PacketGetStats error: The handle is invalid. Snort exiting What do you think is wrong. I have not modified any of the initial config files or anything else. I'm running it straight out of the box. I think maybe its not detecting my interface correctly. Can anyone help me. What config file to change. This same Snort package ran fine on my Win'98 machine. Thanks a ton, Nikolai Pereira |
