If you're having problems, the first thing to try is looking at the output
from the agent (rather than simply discarding it!)
Try

snmpd -f -Le -c /home/proj/platform/open/net-snmp-5.2.2/agent/snmpd.conf


What does this snmpd.conf file contain?
