snmpd logs?

Does the snmpd log it's activities anywhere? I have started the snmpd as follows using default conf file

../snmpd -c ../share/snmp/EXAMPLE.conf 192.168.0.21:9171 &

I do see something listening on port 9171. But my snmpwalk returns timeout

bash-2.05$ ../bin/snmpwalk -v 2c -c com2sec 192.168.0.21:9171 system
Timeout: No Response from 192.168.0.21:9171
bash-2.05$ ../bin/snmpwalk -v 2c -c public 192.168.0.21:9171 system
Timeout: No Response from 192.168.0.21:9171
