You spent more time than I would have expected of someone answering a
random n00bie stranger on a mailing list. Many sincere thanks.

This was at least part of my problem; at least some of the several
times I downloaded APPLICATION-MIB I got the '98 version.

Very helpful. The end result of all this was that I got a version that
appears to work; even mbrowse likes it. Again, many thanks.
