Red Hat net-snmp-5.1.2-11.EL4.4 master agent daemon not working

Hello,

We have installed the net-snmp-5.1.2.-11.EL4.4 release supplied with Red =
Hat
Enterprise Linux 4 Update 2 and are having difficulties getting the =
master agent daemon
(snmpd) to operate correctly.

We see the following errors:

snmpd[14808]: Turning on AgentX master support.
snmpd[14808]: NET-SNMP version 5.1.2
snmpd[14808]: Connection from callback: 1 on fd 2
snmpd[14808]: pdu failed to be created
snmpd[14808]: Connection from callback: 1 on fd 2

The master agent daemon seems to get into a mode where
it's got two file handles open (2 & 3) and it's reading
from one and writing to the other. Unfortunately, those
handles are references to the same entity (a pipe) and
so the snmpd is basically waiting for itself.

Is this a known issue in the community? Is there a Red Hat patch that =
can
be applied to address this?
