"pass persist" and Traps

Hi List, Hope this is not an FAQ:

I need to write a test stub for an ospfv3mib implementation, that will =
run as an Agent-X sub-agent i.e.=20
the OSPFv3 process will have a MIB implentation and register itself with =
snmpd.

The "pass persist" directive seems to do most of what is needed but =
there is one issue: Traps/Informs.

The ospfV3mib implementation needs to send Traps and I need to test that =
they are handled correctly.

So, My Question is:

Assuming net-snmp was built with Perl-support, can I use the Perl SNMP =
interface to
generate Traps, that will be injected into the Agent and =
handled/forwarded "the proper way"?

-or-

Must I register as an Agent-X subagent?

i.e. do most of the real work before any test?
