Hello,
I am running NET-SNMP version: 5.0.6 on Red Hat 9 on 2 different machines. Both machines are configured nearly identically. I am running snmpd and snmptrapd with traptoemail set up to receive all traps (default) and then send them to me via email. I noticed on machine 1, that the traps are being written to snmptrap.log and I am receiving properly formatted emails which contain the fully qualified host name as well as all of the trap information. On machine 2, all of the trap information is written to it's snmptrap.log but the host name that sent the trap is not in the logs, just the IP address and the email that I receive just contains the IP. For example: subject: trap received from 10.1.2.48 Host: 10.1.2.48 (10.1.2.48) Machine 2 can resolve the host names of the machines sending the traps. So I am wondering why machine 1 behaves as I expect but machine 2 does not show the host name or the trap information.
