How are you populating the contents of the table?
Remember that the 'dataset' helper assumes that it knows all the valid
rows, and will attempt to fulfil the request itself. It only calls your
handler to allow for last-minute amendments of the value that it has
set up internally.

If the handler knows that a particular row doesn't exist, then it won't
call your handler.
