The hosts I need to run the agent on have a fairly inconsistent library setup and its causing snmpd to peg cpu, exit ungracefully, and lock up at times. On a clean machine, my compile of snmpd works fine. Perhaps a different approach is needed. Alternatively, I was thinking of setting up a unique prefix (/opt/special) for example. Then, install the shared libraries (libgcc, ssl etc) and netsnmp in /opt/special. By doing this, I think I could prevent snmpd from seeing the broken libraries in the default locations. Thoughts?
