FWIW, the standalone example from the perlembed manpage:

http://perl.com/doc/manual/html/pod/...rpreter_to_you

builds and runs just fine, so it's not that [embedded] perl is broken in
general on FreeBSD. Also, our snmptrapd embedded perl test succeeds.
