[Samba] enumeration of usernames from getent dissapearing

Samba samba-3.0.25b-1.el5_1.4

The machine is successfully joined to the AD windows domain domainA.

Running getent passwd returns some weird results though.

ls -lah in the /home directory to list ownership will show

drwxr-xr-x 2 userB INC\domain users 4.0K Jun 14 2007

the user names are enumerated correctly but after a few minutes the
enumeration goes away=20

is there a cache setting for samba that I'm missing somewhere?
