[Samba] cannot connect to server

hi,

our samba shares were working previously, and then i had to reinstall the
operating system (mac 10.4). now, i am not able to connect and get the
following error:

"Could not connect to the server because the name or password is not
correct."

however, i am using the same name and password that connect successfully on
another machine.


were there some settings that may have been wiped out with the reinstall?
the smb.conf file has not changed, and the firewall is off.
