--===============1854853124== Content-class: urn:content-classes:message Content-Type: multipart/alternative; boundary="----_=_NextPart_001_01C8A488.6973502C" This is a multi-part message in MIME format. ------_=_NextPart_001_01C8A488.6973502C Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable Hello all =20 In my setup I have one program writing to my rrd files using rrdtool executable. =20 I have, until now, only had one program reading my rrd files using rrdgraph. =20 We are, in the future going to also use CGI to run rrtdump on the rrd files. =20 It is likely that the 2 processes will try to read the same file at the same time (eventually) =20 Do I need to worry about multiple readers? Do I need to implement some sort of reader lock external to the rrd tool processes? Thanks -- jack ------_=_NextPart_001_01C8A488.6973502C Content-Type: text/html; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable <HTML dir=3Dltr><HEAD>=0A= <META http-equiv=3DContent-Type content=3D"text/html; charset=3Dunicode">=0A= <META content=3D"MSHTML 6.00.6000.16640" name=3DGENERATOR></HEAD>=0A= <BODY>=0A= <DIV><FONT face=3DArial color=3D#000000 size=3D2>Hello all</FONT></DIV>=0A= <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2></FONT> </DIV>=0A= <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>In my setup I have one program writing = to my rrd files</FONT></DIV>=0A= <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>using rrdtool executable.</FONT></DIV>=0A= <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2></FONT> </DIV>=0A= <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>I have, until now, only had one program = reading my rrd files</FONT></DIV>=0A= <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>using rrdgraph.</FONT></DIV>=0A= <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2></FONT> </DIV>=0A= <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>We are, in the future going to also use = CGI to run rrtdump</FONT></DIV>=0A= <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>on the rrd files.</FONT></DIV>=0A= <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2></FONT> </DIV>=0A= <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>It is likely that the 2 processes will = try to read the same</FONT></DIV>=0A= <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>file at the same time = (eventually)</FONT></DIV>=0A= <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2></FONT> </DIV>=0A= <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>Do I need to worry about multiple = readers?
