Since I am compelled to use Windows, is there anyone who can tell me
(and the other Windows users) how to extract and install those files
needed to use with MRTG?

I have just released rrdtool 1.3 beta 4

Recently the following Changes went in:

* added: support for dashed lines

* improved: build docs

* fixed: major memory leak with rrdtool update
* fixed: segfault affecting the generation of multiple graphs
* fixed: parsing of fontnames with embeded spaces
* fixed: many compiler warnings
* fixed: spacing for weekday with time labels
* fixed: major text alignement bug in rrdtool graph
* fixed: Solaris compilation
* fixed: NetBSD compilation
* fixed: AIX cimplilation

just to name a few ...

There is one major addition left to be integrated:
the verbose graph property reporting

Please give this release a whirl on your system, so that we can
flush out as many problems as possible BEFORE the official release.

PS in general it is best to use rrdtool-trunk-svn-snap.tar.gz
for testing since this will have all the latest fixes in.
