I've never been able to catch w3schools in the act of having decent
tutorials. Same here. Cutting corners, no real detailed information, just
'something that works most of the time, and don't ask to many questions'

I use it some for a quick reference on technologies I'm not totally
fluent on, such as VBScript and ASP. But that's about all I've found it
good for.

I think they do a great job of getting you
started in the right direction. The fundamentals
allow you to get to the next levels.

Very true Rick, but personally I love a quickstart on technologies I
don't know too well.
If I need more/better/deeper information, I buy a good book.
But actually, I found all I needed on AJAX on the net, and it started
with w3schools.

A carefull reader / experienced programmer feels when corners are cut.
;-)

But maybe www.w3schools.com should be replaced by www.w3primaryschools.com

I have found W3schools to be good on most occasions in explaining things
well in their tutorials. The AJAX tutorial is DEFINITELY not one of
them. It wasn't until I got to a contract where it where it was already
in place, and I had to use it, that I understood it.
