Pear Prob

I am having a small problem using Pear.

I am trying to install a web application which uses pear, unfortunately
I am getting some errors.

I am using a Linux VPS server which I access remotely.
>From the root of the server pear is located at:
/usr/share/pear

Similarly, from the root of the server my site is hosted at:
/var/www/vhosts/xentek.co.uk/httpdocs

I hope someone will be able to help me out, as I have pulled a lot of
hair out over this one!
