If I generate configure with autoconf 2.60 it seems define HAVE_SYS_TYPES_H
as it should my Solaris & UnixWare boxes.

Russell, Try http://www.multitalents.net/openssh/configure-1.343.gz and
see if that helps on your Sun OS box.
