Default overhead of database

Hello All,

I am using 'phpMyAdmin - 2.8.1' with 'MySQL - 5.0.21'.
In my list of database 'overhead' this word is comming.

What is mean by 'overhead' ?
I used google search but i am unable to find exact answer.
Please, guide me.

The processing*time required by a device or program prior
to the execution of a command. Lost time.
The disk*space required for information that is not data
but is used for location and timing etc..
