Inno db issues

Set up mysql "5.0.18". The config service under Service control has
support for InnoDB checked, there is a directory 'Mysql InnoDB Datafile
with a file ibdata1 at 10240KB. All this leads me to believe is set up
correctly for InnoDB.

However, when if try to create a file using InnoDB if get the following
error.
"The 'InnoDB' feature is disabled; you need MySQL built with 'InnoDB' to
have it working"

Can someone suggest another set to check if setup of InnoDB was correct.
