Default Troubleshooting file size issues

I'm running MySQL on my production servers here. "--version" says "mysql
Ver 14.7 Distrib 4.1.10a, for pc-linux-gnu (i686)". OS is RedHat
Enterprise ES version 4.

Over the weekend our /mysql partition filled up completely. I was able to
delete some unused databases, shut down mysql, move the data files to a
partition with more space, and restart mysql. I'm now trying to figure out
where all the disk space is going.

I can see the per-database directories, and it looks like the files in
those directories are believable sizes. Our largest customer database
directories are 295 MB, 95 MB, 67 MB, and 28 MB. In the /mysql dir itself,
though, is where the really big files live. We're looking at stuff like:
-rw-rw---- 1 mysql root 18874368 Nov 7 01:02 ibdata1
-rw-rw---- 1 mysql ident 26318883 Nov 7 08:52 www2-bin.000048
-rw-rw---- 1 mysql ident 262168698 Jul 14 23:38 www2-bin.000021
-rw-rw---- 1 mysql ident 407044096 Nov 6 18:21 www2-bin.000033
-rw-rw---- 1 mysql ident 753588172 Mar 28 2005 www4-bin.045
-rw-rw---- 1 mysql ident 836282364 Oct 2 09:06 www2-bin.000027
-rw-rw---- 1 mysql ident 980598866 Sep 7 14:55 www2-bin.000025
-rw-rw---- 1 mysql ident 1073741871 Mar 5 2005 www4-bin.043
-rw-rw---- 1 mysql ident 1073741876 Feb 3 2005 www4-bin.041
-rw-rw---- 1 mysql ident 1073741877 Oct 26 17:28 www2-bin.000031
-rw-rw---- 1 mysql ident 1073741888 Mar 18 2005 www4-bin.044
-rw-rw---- 1 mysql ident 1073741898 Feb 19 2005 www4-bin.042
-rw-rw---- 1 mysql ident 1073741918 Jul 13 10:52 www2-bin.000020
-rw-rw---- 1 mysql ident 1073741930 Jul 4 04:41 www2-bin.000019
-rw-rw---- 1 mysql ident 1073741980 Jul 28 10:22 www2-bin.000022
-rw-rw---- 1 mysql ident 1073741985 Oct 14 00:00 www2-bin.000030
-rw-rw---- 1 mysql ident 1073742139 Nov 3 20:13 www2-bin.000032

I'd like to figure out what's in those blasted bin files, and whether I
can get rid of them. Any pointers to where I can find that documented?
I've searched everyplace I can think of to look, but running on 2 hours
sleep in the last 2 days means I'm not firing on all cylinders :)

Never mind - I just found
http://sunsite.mff.cuni.cz/MIRRORS/f...ET_MASTER.html

Those are my binary logs.
