SMTP authentication in postfix

anyone plz guide me how to configure smtp authentication in postfix in
RHEL 4.0 operating system.

It is not actually Postfix who does the authentication, but other apps
+ SASL. You should check this URL (http://www.postfix.org/
SASL_README.html)

I've implemented it using CentOS 5 using the very same guide. Works
like a charm.
