I'll be the one to nitpick here. You are talking about rejecting based on envelope information, not headers. Although the headers often contain the same information, the headers themselves are actually sent with the rest of the mail body. You don't get to see the headers until the client transmits the body of the message. But in the general idea, you are right. Rejecting a message based on envelope information will save connect time and bandwidth. If you DISCARD a message, the client must still transmit the entire message to you, so all you save is storage. -- Noel Jones |
