While there have been no recent scares it had quite a bad security
history at one point. Personally I would not touch it for a server on
the public internet.

I'm a little surprised at an ISP offering IMAP, most prefer POP3 so
that they don't have to worry about users forgetting to delete read
mail. Your system, your choice, and I definitely prefer IMAP for
corporate servers, but for an ISP it can tie up one devil of a lot of
storage.
