the problem I see here is that in the battle to get the lowset prices
(this is still happening here), things like "quality" get into the
"we'll see later" box.

The OFT is supposed to be

most ISPs did nothing to manage the spam problem, so as soon as they
block 25, they'll end up in a BL. solution: they won't block 25...

If ISPs were to collaborate, then let'em just give us a simple way to
determine whether a client is "dynamic/home", "dynamic/business",
"static/customer" or "isp". with these, we can decide whether to accept
or not. if they block 25, we get a single IP, and we need to count on
the ISP to manage the spam, which may be good if the ISP is good, but I
just can't trust that.

Of course it would help if we had some anti-spam laws that

unfortunately, law won't suffice. in .fr, because "these guys" have
enough incentive to find the "right" way to evade the law.

While I am in, let me tell a story

some time ago, I've noticed a problem with my ISP (see below). after a
lot of phone debate (paid by myself:) nothing came out, except that
during this they asked me my email address. since I have many unused
addresses, I gave'em one, which, believe it or not, resulted in spam,
and say what, french spam from italy ("I would be happy to know I'm
famous in Italy, but why do they speak french to me?" would I say:-)

["below" is here:
- they reduced max rcpt to less than 30, which is less than what the rfc
suggests.
- they don't "respect" their abuse addess (worst: It bounces)
- they helo with a name that doesn't resolve
- they spamed their customers proposing anti-spam and anti-virus
solutions. something like "we offer you this for free for 3 months",
which is hardly legal, at least in .fr
....

(PS. I've worked with ISPs and while I didn't have the same problems,
other issues can only keep me ISP-agnostic)
