Default SSL problems with Outlook 2002

Hello,
a customer of mine recently had MSOffice "upgraded" to XP (that is Office 2002)
and started having problems with my server: it appears she can only download
mail in IMAP/SSL while every attempt to send in SMTP/SSL over port 465 results
in the following two lines of log and her client hanging until she stops it:

Oct 5 09:49:41 maelstrom postfix/smtpd[14235]: warning: Read failed in
network_biopair_interop with errno=0: num_read=0, want_read=11
Oct 5 09:49:42 maelstrom postfix/smtpd[14235]: SSL_accept error from
213-140-22-64.fastres.net[213.140.22.64]: -1

I've personally tried connecting from the same lan the server sits on with an
Outlook 2002 SP1 installed on my laptop and, not surprisingly, the result is
the same.

I do know there are other people connecting to the same server using Outlook
Express and Outlook 2003 working flawlessly (by MS standards anyway), and I've
read all the threads about network_biopair_interop posted to this list, but I
also thought I'd ask if somebody has already seen this behaviour and they've
found a solution/workaround apart from upgrading MSOffice.

System is a RedHat 7.3 running
2.4.20-31.9smp
postfix-2.1.1-1.db4.pcre.sasl2.tls.rh73
openssl096b-0.9.6b-15

TIA,
