multiple copies sent to members of aliases

Hi sorry if this question has been raised before and answered, I couldn't
find anything on it.

I have a number of users as part of an alias and we're using the mbox format
for their mailboxes, sometimes when people send to an alias and there is a
problem sending to one part of the alias i.e. the server that someones
mailbox resides on is out of storage, then the email continually sends to
all members of the alias until you a) fix the problem or b) remove the mail
from the queue.

We do have a owner-alias setup for the alias i.e. owner-bigal for the bigal
alias but this doesn't seem to help.

Is this a feature of the software that we have to live with?
